Hamad Medical Corporation are the government body responsible for administering all of the primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities in the state of Qatar
Hamad Medical Corporation administers 6 major hospitals and the national heart hospital and cancer centre. Most of the facilities are based in the capital Doha with hospitals also in the town of Al Khor in the north, Durkan in the west and Al Wakra which is around 30 minutes travel to the south of Doha. All eight hospitals and the Home Healthcare and Ambulance Services are accredited by the Joint Commission International.
They are continuing to expand their services and facilities with a new hospital recently opened in Riyadh (2017) and new developments elsewhere.

A modern, 600-bed facility
It offers a wide range of medical care and clinical services, including trauma, emergency medicine, pediatrics, critical care, specialized and sub-specialized surgery, specialized medicine, laboratory medicine, diagnostic imaging and adult rehabilitation services.
The hospital, which opened in 1982, provides expert inpatient care, a large Outpatient Department providing more than 65 specialty clinics, a highly developed Emergency Department, five intensive care units, eight operating theaters and a large pharmacy. Modern diagnostic facilities including laboratory, medicine, pathology and radiology facilities support all therapeutic services.
The National Centre for Diabetes Treatment opened in 2013 and the hospital manages the Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Center, which offers some of the most advanced treatment standards in the region for patients with acute and chronic kidney ailments.
Hamad General Hospital has a strong partnership with Weill Cornell Medical School – Qatar, and around 400 residents rotate through its services yearly.
330 beds, a large Outpatient Department, an emergency room, 16 labor and delivery suites and three operating theaters.
The hospital has a large obstetric service and is responsible for the vast majority of births in Qatar – more than 17,000 each year. This makes it one of the busiest of Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) eight hospitals.
A 540 beds multi-specialty hospital that provides medical, surgical and long-term care. Most of Rumailah Hospital’s services are provided from the original main hospital site, such as dentistry, maxillofacial, dermatology, rehabilitation (both mental and physical for adults and children), ENT, ophthalmology, communicable diseases and care for the elderly.
The hospital operates across seven different sites, with more than and a multi-national workforce of over 2,000 employees.
Al Wakra Hospital
The hospital has capacity for 325 beds; 248 of which are for general and acute patients and 77 are reserved for critical care, high dependency and burns patients. There are also an additional 77 observation/day beds.
The hospital opened in 2012 to serve the rapidly growing towns of Al Wakra and Mesaieed as a general hospital.
Al Khor Hospital
Opened in 2005, Al Khor Hospital is a 115-bed general hospital providing healthcare services to the population of the northern region of Qatar. Departments include Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Medicine, Pediatrics, Obsterics and Gynecology, Radiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry and Surgery
The Cuban Hospital
Located in Dukhan the hospital was officially opened inJanuary 2012. As a joint project between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of Cuba, the hospital is staffed by more than 400 Cuban medical professionals; including doctors, nurses and technicians in the fields of rehabilitation, dentistry, pathology, biomedicine and radiology.
The National Center for Cancer Care and Research
The main cancer hospital for the State of Qatar and looks after cancer patients who require ongoing treatments such as chemotherapy andradiotherapy. NCCCR also treats blood conditions and will soon be opening the first Center for Bone Marrow Transplants in Qatar. The hospital houses the first PET CT scanner in the region, In addition, there is a new urgent care clinic at the hospital for patients with symptomatic cancers who need to be seen as an emergency case without having to go to Hamad General Hospital’s Emergency Department.
The Heart Hospital is the specialist hospital in Qatar for cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery patients. It is made up of a state-of-the-art 20 bed coronary care unit, a 12 bed cardiothoracic intensive care unit (ICU), a 24 bed surgical high-dependency unit (HDU) and a 60 bed ward
The hospital has three operating theaters, including a dedicated special theater for surgical HDU and ICU. There is also a technologically advanced catheterization laboratory and three laboratories with a dedicated electro-physiology function that allows for round-the-clock delivery of coronary interventional procedures. The non-invasive laboratory on the ground floor provides a comprehensive range of non-invasive tests for inpatients and outpatients.
